Hurricane Season's in Full Swing

The past few weeks have been quite eventful, but not so much in a good way... First, there was Gustav. And although we thoroughly enjoyed having Papa and Ju, Uncle Mike, Aunt Zhanna, Andrew and Nicholas here, we wish it could have been under better circumstances. We did have lots of fun while they visited!

Laura, Andrew, Joshua and Nicholas wrestled with Papa. Can you guess who won?

Joshua finally made friends with Shaggy!

We put Papa to work while he was here, but Joshua was a huge help!

The cousins.

We love Aunt Zhanna!

The troublesome two-some!

Less than two weeks later, Ike headed in our direction. The Houston/Galveston area took a pretty bad hit. Thankfully, the worst of it for us was that we lost power for about 22 hours. Much of Houston is still without power. Things here are somewhat reminiscent of what we went through 3 years ago. Certainly not to the same extent, but dealing with grocery stores that are not fully stocked and long long lines at gas stations really takes me back. Laura's school is closed for the remainder of this week. We certainly hope we have seen the last hurricane for the season.

Thank goodness for a battery powered DVD player!
